This website

https://mypdfpilot.vercel.com is a static site. It does not use cookies, does not run analytics or tracking scripts, and does not have a backend server or database. No personal data is collected by visiting this site.

The PDFPilot Chrome extension

PDFPilot itself does not operate its own servers and does not collect, store, or transmit your PDF files. When you choose a tool, the extension opens Stirling PDF in a browser tab and hands your file to that service directly — the same as if you had navigated there and uploaded it yourself. What happens to your file from that point on is governed by Stirling PDF's own privacy practices, not PDFPilot's.

Data stored locally

The extension stores a small amount of data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API: your theme preference (light/dark) and a list of recently used tools, so the popup can show your history. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Browser permissions and why they're requested

  • Tabs — used to detect when the page you're viewing is a PDF, and to open the correct tool in a new or existing tab.
  • Host permissions (all sites) — required so the extension can detect PDFs on any site you visit, including files served directly at a URL.
  • Context menus — powers the right-click "Open with Stirling PDF" option.
  • Storage — used only for the local theme and recent-tools data described above.
  • Debugger — used exclusively by the "Convert this page to PDF" quick action, to capture the currently open page as a PDF via Chrome's DevTools protocol. It is not used for any other purpose.

Third-party service

PDFPilot links out to Stirling PDF (https://www.stirlingpdf.com) to perform actual PDF processing. Review Stirling PDF's own privacy policy for details on how files are handled once uploaded there.

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
